Muzammil Ibrahim Clarifies Viral Remarks About Deepika Padukone’s Past

Mumbai: Indian actor Muzammil Ibrahim has issued a clarification regarding viral clips from an old interview in which he spoke about actress Deepika Padukone, saying his comments have been taken out of context.
The clips, originally recorded during an interview in 2025, recently resurfaced on social media. In the interview, Muzammil claimed that during the early years of their careers, Deepika had proposed to him, but he did not accept the proposal. The remarks sparked widespread discussion and criticism online.
Responding to the controversy in an Instagram statement, Muzammil said the viral clips did not reflect the full conversation and that selective editing had removed the context and respectful tone of his comments.
He added that he has always spoken respectfully about people who have been part of his past and holds no negative feelings toward anyone.
In the same interview, Muzammil had also said that he and Deepika remained in occasional contact after their relationship ended and would congratulate each other on professional achievements. According to him, their communication ceased after Deepika got married.
Deepika Padukone married actor Ranveer Singh in 2018, and the couple are currently expecting their second child, according to the report.
