Pakistan Launches e-Protector System for Overseas Job Seekers

Islamabad: The Government of Pakistan has launched the e-Protector System, a fully digital platform designed to simplify the registration process for citizens seeking employment abroad.

Developed by the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment, the new online system replaces the traditional in-person Protector registration process, allowing applicants to complete their registration from home using a mobile phone, laptop, or computer within minutes.

Officials said the initiative aims to eliminate the need for repeated visits to Protector offices, reduce long waiting times, and protect job seekers from exploitation by unauthorized agents.

Under the new system, applicants can register online through the Bureau’s portal by entering the required information, uploading their employment contract and other necessary documents, and paying the prescribed government fee electronically. Once the payment is verified, the Protector registration process will be completed automatically.

According to the authorities, the digital platform has been developed in accordance with the Emigration Ordinance, 1979, and other relevant laws. The system is expected to modernize the country’s emigration process, improve transparency, reduce opportunities for corruption, and save applicants both time and travel expenses.

Previously, many workers—particularly those from remote and rural areas—had to travel to major cities to complete Protector registration, often spending significant time and money during the process.

The Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment said the new system will also enable the government to maintain a comprehensive digital database of Pakistani workers going abroad, helping authorities provide better legal protection and formulate more effective policies for overseas Pakistanis.
