Seven Militants Killed in Joint Security Operation ‘Shaban’ in Balochistan

Quetta: Pakistan’s security forces have continued their joint counterterrorism campaign, Operation Shaban, in Balochistan, killing seven suspected militants in two separate operations conducted on Sunday, according to security sources.

The operation, carried out jointly by the Pakistan Army, the Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan, and the Balochistan Police, involved intelligence-based ground and aerial actions in different parts of the province.

Security sources said three militants were killed in the first operation, while four more were killed during a second operation in the Saran Tangi area. The suspects were allegedly involved in various militant activities.

According to the sources, a cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the slain militants, including M4 rifles, submachine guns (SMGs), rocket launchers, mobile phones, and other equipment.

Officials stated that the total number of militants killed since the launch of Operation Shaban has reached 71. They added that since July 5, a combined total of 109 militants have been killed in Operation Shaban and other intelligence-based operations across Balochistan.

Security officials said the operation will continue until militant networks operating in the province are completely dismantled, adding that security forces remain committed to maintaining peace and eliminating terrorist threats.

The operation was launched in early July 2026 following a deadly attack on the Mangi Dam Police Station in Ziarat district, in which nine police personnel were killed. Following the attack, authorities initiated a coordinated campaign to dismantle militant networks and restore security across the region.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the security forces for their successful operations. He commended the Pakistan Army, FC Balochistan, and Balochistan Police for their professionalism and bravery, stating that the joint operations reflect the country’s firm resolve to safeguard national security.

Naqvi reiterated that there is no place for terrorist elements in Pakistan and said the nation stands united with its security forces in the fight against terrorism, adding that counterterrorism operations will continue with full determination.
