Former Balochistan Bar Council Vice Chairman Criticizes PM’s Quetta Visit, Calls It a ‘Failed Tour’

Quetta: Former Vice Chairman of the Balochistan Bar Council and Council member Rahib Khan Balidi Advocate has criticized Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Quetta, describing it as a failure after the premier returned without meeting families participating in the ongoing protest sit-in.

In a statement, Balidi said the Prime Minister’s visit and his silence over the prevailing security situation in Balochistan were disappointing. He alleged that both the federal and provincial governments had failed to address the province’s longstanding issues and accused the leadership of focusing on the province’s resources rather than resolving its problems.

Balidi further claimed that what he described as flawed government policies had contributed to the worsening situation in Balochistan. He questioned how an “empowered” government could resolve the province’s challenges if, according to him, the Prime Minister did not meet or offer condolences to the affected families during his visit.

He also termed the Prime Minister’s visit a waste of public resources and described it as a “completely unsuccessful” tour.

The former Bar Council official said the protesters were staging the sit-in to demand solutions to their grievances and the restoration of peace and security in the region.

He concluded by expressing the Balochistan Bar Council’s solidarity with the families participating in the protest.
