KP Information Minister Denies Reports of Blue Passports and Additional Perks for Lawmakers
Peshawar: Shafi Jan has dismissed reports circulating on social media and other platforms claiming that members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly have been granted blue passports or additional privileges, describing the reports as “false, fabricated, and baseless.”
In a statement posted on the social media platform X, the provincial information minister said the reports were completely contrary to the facts.
Shafi Jan clarified that the issuance of passports falls exclusively under the jurisdiction of the federal government, adding that the provincial government has no authority to approve or issue blue passports for members of the provincial assembly.
He said that claims suggesting the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly had approved blue passports for its lawmakers were entirely unfounded.
The minister further stated that members of the provincial assembly and the provincial cabinet continue to receive only those benefits and allowances that are already provided under the existing rules and regulations.
He emphasized that no increase has been made in the privileges or benefits of provincial lawmakers, and that assembly members have not approved or received any additional perks beyond those already prescribed under the law.
