JUI-F Says Power, Gas and Water Shortages Have Made Life Miserable for Quetta Residents

QUETTA: The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F (JUI-F) Quetta chapter has expressed serious concern over worsening electricity, gas, and water shortages in the provincial capital, saying the prolonged utility crisis has made daily life increasingly difficult for residents.
In a joint statement, JUI-F Quetta district leaders, including District Ameer Maulana Abdul Rehman Rafiq, General Secretary Haji Ainullah Shams, Senior Vice Ameer Maulana Khurshid Ahmad, Haji Bashir Ahmad Kakar, Hafiz Shabbir Ahmad Madani, Haji Rahmatullah Kakar, Syed Haji Abdul Wahid Agha, Hafiz Masood Ahmad, Haji Muhammad Qasim Khilji, Haji Wali Muhammad Bareech, Safiullah Mengal, and Shah Zahid Mashwani, criticized the authorities for failing to address the city’s basic utility issues.
The party leaders said prolonged and unannounced electricity load-shedding, severe water shortages, and continuous gas outages have created significant hardships for the public, while the alleged indifference of the relevant departments has further aggravated the situation.
They said that soaring inflation has already weakened the purchasing power of ordinary citizens, and unreliable utility services have imposed an additional financial burden on households.
According to the statement, gas supply remains suspended daily from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and again from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., forcing residents to rely on expensive liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for cooking. The shutdown of tube wells has also compelled many families to purchase costly water tankers to meet their daily needs.
The JUI-F leaders said these additional expenses have become unbearable at a time when many people are struggling with low salaries, unemployment, and rising living costs.
They further accused the government and relevant institutions of limiting their response to announcements and promises instead of taking practical steps to resolve public grievances. The party said residents have repeatedly approached government offices to seek solutions but have received little response.
The JUI-F urged the authorities to take immediate and effective measures to restore reliable electricity, gas, and water supplies and provide relief to the people of Quetta.
