9 May Incident Cases: PTI Leadership and Several Leaders Found Guilty in JIT Report
Lahore: Key Developments in 9 May Cases as JIT Report Identifies PTI Leadership and Several Leaders as Guilty
In the ongoing trials related to the 9 May incidents, the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has submitted its final report to the court, implicating the leadership of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party and several of its prominent figures. According to the JIT findings, PTI leadership, including Asad Umar, Azam Swati, Hafeez Farhat, and other individuals, are responsible for inciting the public on 9 May.
The JIT report, which was presented in the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) during the hearing of various 9 May-related cases, indicates that the PTI leadership played a key role in provoking violent protests. The investigation has concluded that several PTI leaders are guilty of being involved in the unrest.
During the hearing, ATC Judge Arshad Javed asked the defense lawyers for the accused whether they were ready to proceed with arguments, as the investigation had been completed. The court has scheduled the next hearing for 14 January 2024, where the defense will present their arguments.
In addition to the 9 May cases, the ATC also made significant progress in the cases related to the attack on Jinnah House and other incidents. In these cases, the investigation officer has declared the accused, including Jamshed Iqbal Cheema and Musarrat Jamshed Cheema, guilty in four separate cases related to the violence.
The court proceedings continue as the accused face charges related to acts of terrorism, violence, and vandalism during the chaotic events of 9 May.
