IMF-Driven Budget Has Squeezed the Poor, State Failing to Run Country: Maulana Muhammad Khan Sherani

Quetta (News Desk): Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan leader Maulana Muhammad Khan Sherani has said that the budget prepared under the dictates of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has “squeezed the blood of the poor people.”
He said that the budget is filled with a “confusing game of words and numbers” aimed at misleading the public, while the ongoing political crisis has further deepened the country’s problems, which he blamed on the wrong policies of “incompetent rulers.”
Maulana Sherani stated that due to IMF-imposed economic policies, the middle class and poor segments of society are living a painful life under the poverty line. He added that the state’s lack of seriousness has brought the entire country to a standstill.
He further said that the current rulers have failed to run the country, and oppressive policies have pushed people from all sectors into protest. According to him, poverty, inflation, and unemployment have trapped nearly 70 percent of the population.
He remarked that deprivation has become permanent in society, and ordinary citizens are being denied basic rights such as education, health, employment, and justice. He held the state responsible for increasing public exploitation.
Maulana Sherani warned that the country’s “dependent economic policies” could prove disastrous, calling them a “tsunami” for the nation. He said inflation and unemployment have made life unbearable for the common man while benefiting only the elite, who are becoming wealthier.
