National Assembly Approves Demands for Grants for Multiple Ministries in Budget Process

ISLAMABAD:** The National Assembly has approved, by majority vote, the demands for grants of various ministries and divisions during the second phase of the federal budget approval process.

The session was chaired by Speaker **Sardar Ayaz Sadiq**, where Federal Minister for Finance **Muhammad Aurangzeb** presented the demands for grants.

The House approved allocations for multiple sectors, including **Rs22 billion for the Atomic Energy sector**, **Rs14 crore for the Naya Pakistan Housing Development Authority**, and **Rs2.35 billion for the Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority**. In the communications sector, one allocation of **Rs35 crore** and another exceeding **Rs36 billion** were also approved.

For the Pakistan Post Office Department, **Rs25 billion** were approved, while **Rs17 billion** were allocated for the defence sector. The Climate Change Division received **Rs3.89 billion**, the Foreign Affairs Division **Rs68.17 billion**, the Housing and Works Division **Rs22.31 billion**, and the Human Rights Division over **Rs2.33 billion** across multiple demands.

The Commerce Division’s two demands totaling over **Rs27.99 billion** were approved, while the Communications Division received over **Rs125 billion** across five demands. The Defence and Defence Division’s five demands amounting to over **Rs30.67 trillion** were also passed, along with two demands for the Defence Production Division totaling over **Rs2.11 billion**.

Other approvals included the Economic Affairs Division’s **Rs15.01 billion**, Federal Education and Professional Training’s over **Rs121.26 billion across nine demands**, Information and Broadcasting Division’s **Rs27.57 billion**, and the Ministry of Information Technology’s over **Rs42.07 billion across two demands**.

The Interior Division and its subordinate bodies were allocated over **Rs45.04 billion**, while the Inter-Provincial Coordination Division received over **Rs5.02 billion**. The Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Affairs Division received over **Rs3.18 billion**, and the Law and Justice Division over **Rs24.91 billion across seven demands**.

Additionally, the Maritime Affairs Division received over **Rs4.12 billion**, the National Assembly Secretariat **Rs9.03 billion**, the Senate of Pakistan **Rs3.21 billion**, and the National Health Services Ministry over **Rs53.28 billion** across two demands.

The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs was allocated over **Rs1.20 billion**, Planning Division over **Rs37.21 billion across two demands**, and the Privatization Division over **Rs1.74 billion across two demands**.

The approvals mark a key step forward in the federal budget process.
