IHC Bench Dissolved in KP CM’s Request to Meet Imran Khan Over Budget Consultation
ISLAMABAD: The bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) hearing a petition seeking a meeting between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Suhail Afridi and PTI founder Imran Khan has been dissolved, with the matter now being referred to the Chief Justice for further orders.
Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro heard the petition filed by Chief Minister Suhail Afridi and Adviser to the Finance Minister Muzammil Aslam, who sought permission to meet the PTI founder for consultation on the provincial budget.
During the hearing, the Registrar’s Office submitted a report stating that a larger bench of the Islamabad High Court is already hearing cases related to jail meetings and similar petitions.
Advocate Ali Bukhari argued that this was the first request specifically seeking a meeting for budget consultations. He also informed the court that the complete record of previous petitions concerning jail meetings had been attached to the case file.
In a written order, the court noted that the Registrar had reported the existence of several similar cases pending before the larger bench. Consequently, the file has been forwarded to the Chief Justice for appropriate directions.
The petition was filed to facilitate a meeting between the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa leadership and the PTI founder regarding discussions on the provincial budget.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court also heard contempt of court proceedings related to restrictions on meetings with the PTI founder and directed that the appeal be scheduled for hearing within three weeks.
