Violence Against Teachers and Employees Unacceptable, Ruling Elite Must End Luxuries and Provide Relief: Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch

Quetta (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Daily) — Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch, Emir of Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan and Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA), has strongly condemned police violence, baton charge, and arrests of teachers and Grand Alliance employees, calling the actions unacceptable and undemocratic.

In a statement, he said that the arrest of Grand Alliance President Professor Abdul Quddus Kakar and other employees, along with the use of tear gas shelling and denial of democratic rights, is condemnable in the strongest terms.

He demanded that instead of increasing perks and luxuries, the government should adopt austerity, simplicity, and financial discipline, and provide real relief to teachers and government employees, who he described as “nation builders.”

He said that treating employees like criminals or terrorists is unacceptable, adding that teachers are not thieves or lawbreakers but respectable professionals whose demand for fair salaries in the face of rising inflation is legitimate.

Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch further stated that while ruling elites continue to increase their privileges and protocol, the state is portrayed as lacking resources when it comes to addressing the needs of teachers and workers.

He emphasized that problems cannot be solved through force, arrests, or violence, warning that those in power should remember that authority is temporary and will eventually face public accountability and historical judgment.

He said that dragging teachers onto the streets is not only an insult to individuals but also an insult to education, knowledge, and the teaching profession itself.

The MPA reaffirmed that Jamaat-e-Islami fully supports the Grand Alliance and teachers’ legitimate demands and called on the government to immediately release all detained employees and resolve their issues through dialogue.
