Saeed Ghani Admits Over Rs20 Billion Corruption in His Department

Karachi: Sindh Minister for Labour and Human Resources Saeed Ghani has reportedly admitted that corruption exceeding Rs20 billion has taken place within his department.

Speaking as the chief guest at an All Pakistan Women Workers Conference organized by the Home-Based Women Workers Federation at the Arts Council of Pakistan, Ghani revealed that massive corruption had occurred in his institution. He said he is facing significant pressure over the matter but insisted that he is not willing to bow to any pressure and wants those responsible to be punished.

He further stated that workers should refuse to work for wages below Rs40,000, adding that he would not “compromise his integrity for the sake of retaining his ministry” and claimed he could resign from ministerial positions multiple times.

Ghani also highlighted Sindh government’s role in recognizing home-based workers, noting that while policies are sometimes driven by idealism, practical realities must also be considered. He added that he himself was once a dismissed employee of an organization and shared personal background about his family’s struggles and his grandmother’s efforts in running a small business to support their education.
