Border Closures Leave Afghan Dried Fruit Traders Facing Severe Difficulties

Islamabad (Kudrat Daily) — Afghan dried fruit traders are facing serious difficulties following the closure of border routes with Pakistan, disrupting the export of goods and causing financial losses.
According to reports from Afghan and Indian media, restrictions at border crossings have significantly affected the transportation and export of dried fruits to international markets.
Afghan traders said that thousands of tons of dried fruits stored in warehouses are at risk of spoilage due to delays in shipment. They warned that if border routes are not reopened soon, the dried fruit trade could suffer major losses.
Traders further stated that multiple trucks loaded with goods are stranded at border points, leading to deterioration of perishable cargo as well as additional costs and penalties for drivers.
