Pakistan to Increase Benazir Income Support Programme Quarterly Stipend to Rs18,000

ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to increase the quarterly stipend under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) to Rs18,000 from the next fiscal year, according to BISP Chairperson Rubina Khalid.

Speaking about the initiative, Senator Rubina Khalid said that the Benazir Income Support Programme serves as a guarantee of dignity and economic empowerment for low-income families across Pakistan. She added that negative propaganda against the programme is condemnable and does not reflect its importance in supporting vulnerable segments of society.

The BISP chairperson further announced that the quarterly payment amount will be increased to Rs18,000 beginning in the upcoming financial year as part of efforts to provide greater financial assistance to deserving households.

She also stated that, starting from July, all BISP payments will be made exclusively through digital wallets. The move is aimed at improving transparency, efficiency, and ease of access for beneficiaries while reducing reliance on traditional payment methods.

The Benazir Income Support Programme remains one of Pakistan’s largest social welfare initiatives, providing financial support to millions of low-income families throughout the country.
