Trump Rejects CNN Report on Iran Deal, Says Nuclear Restrictions Are Central to Agreement

Washington:U.S. President Donald Trump has dismissed a CNN report regarding the proposed agreement with Iran, insisting that the deal contains strong and detailed provisions addressing Tehran’s nuclear program.

In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump accused CNN of spreading “fake news” by claiming that the agreement did not include references to nuclear issues. He stated that the report was inaccurate and emphasized that preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons is a key element of the proposed deal.

“The agreement clearly states that Iran will not acquire a nuclear weapon,” Trump said, adding that nuclear-related matters form the core of the negotiations. According to the president, the deal contains extensive and detailed clauses covering various aspects of Iran’s nuclear activities, with much of the agreement focused on the issue.

Trump also criticized CNN in the same post, questioning whether the network would be able to restore its credibility under its new ownership.

Earlier, Trump had announced the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, but later stated that the strategic waterway would be opened once the agreement is officially signed. He further claimed that Iran is currently in a very weak position, asserting that its military, navy, and air force have been severely degraded.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that communication and exchanges of messages with the United States are continuing. Speaking to Iranian state media, he noted that no conclusions should be drawn until a clear outcome emerges from the ongoing discussions.

“We should not pay attention to speculation,” Araghchi said, stressing that it is too early to make judgments about the future of the negotiations.
