Democracy Is Losing Its Case While People Suffer Inflation, Says Maulana Fazlur Rehman

KARACHI: The ameer of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, met with Pir Pagara at his residence in Karachi, where both leaders discussed in detail the country’s political and regional situation.

During the meeting, concerns were expressed over Pakistan’s economic conditions, particularly the challenges faced by farmers, landowners, and agricultural workers.

Both leaders agreed that “democracy is losing its case” and said that the public is suffering due to rising inflation while the ruling leadership appears to be in a state of negligence.

They warned that if ordinary citizens continue to remain burdened under inflation, the country could face further instability and disorder. The leaders also emphasized that political workers must not abandon civility and ethical conduct in political activities.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman extended an invitation to Pir Pagara to attend the International Peace Conference scheduled to be held in Sukkur in March 2027 under JUI-F arrangements. Pir Pagara accepted the invitation and assured full cooperation and participation.

The meeting concluded with both leaders agreeing on the need for collective efforts to address public issues and ensure political stability in the country.
