Major Terror Infiltration Attempt Foiled in Hangu, Six Civilians Martyred
Hangu: Security forces successfully foiled an infiltration attempt by more than 100 terrorists belonging to Fitna al-Khawarij in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Hangu district, police officials said.
According to authorities, the police, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), and other law enforcement agencies jointly carried out the successful operation against the militants. Following the operation, schools, nearby properties, and mountainous areas were cleared to ensure security.
Police said that six civilians were martyred and 13 others injured after mortar shells fired by terrorists landed in populated areas. The militants reportedly escaped from the scene while taking the bodies of their dead accomplices and injured fighters with them.
Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, Zulfiqar Hameed, paid tribute to the personnel who took part in the operation and announced rewards and commendation certificates for them.
The IG stated that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police has the capability to completely eliminate Fitna al-Khawarij and said that no sacrifice would be spared to ensure the protection of the public.
