Suspect Arrested for Killing Citizen During Robbery Resistance in Karachi

Karachi: The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) police have arrested a suspect involved in the killing of a citizen during a robbery in Karachi and recovered the weapon allegedly used in the crime.
According to SSP SIU Dr. Samiullah Soomro, the incident took place on March 8 near Northern Bypass in the Gulshan-e-Maymar area, where three armed suspects shot and killed 26-year-old Mian Bakhshi, son of Muhammad Hayat, after he resisted a robbery attempt. The suspects also snatched his mobile phone and Rs20,000 in cash before fleeing the scene.
A case was registered at Gulshan-e-Maymar police station under FIR No. 132/26 under sections 394, 397, 302, and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code, and the investigation was later handed over to the SIU.
Using technical assistance and human intelligence, the SIU team conducted a raid in the Pirabad police station area and arrested the suspect identified as Javed Channa, son of Khadim Hussain.
Police also recovered a 9mm pistol allegedly used in the crime from the suspect’s possession.
During initial interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed to committing the robbery and murder along with his accomplices. Police said raids are underway to arrest the remaining suspects.
Further investigation is ongoing, and authorities are also obtaining the suspect’s previous criminal record.
