Iranian Rial Hits Historic Low Against US Dollar Amid Rising Regional Tensions

Karachi: The Iranian currency has plunged to a historic low against the US dollar, reflecting growing economic pressure amid escalating tensions between Iran and the United States.
According to international media reports, the Iranian Rial has depreciated to nearly 1.8 million rials per US dollar, compared to around 1.7 million at the onset of recent geopolitical tensions.
Analysts attribute the سقوط in the rial’s value to ongoing regional instability, particularly heightened tensions in the Gulf and uncertainty surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, which have shaken investor confidence across Asian markets.
The impact has not been limited to Iran. Other Asian currencies have also shown signs of weakness. The Indonesian Rupiah dropped to around 17,315 per dollar, marking a significant blow to the country’s economy.
Similarly, the Philippine Peso has fallen to a two-week low, while Thailand’s Thai Baht has also recorded a decline during the current month.
Economic experts warn that continued geopolitical tensions, particularly in key النفط transit routes, could further destabilize regional currencies and financial markets in the coming weeks.
