54 Pakistani Migrants Detained in Cambodia, Seek Government Assistance

Authorities in Cambodia have detained at least 54 undocumented migrants from Pakistan, prompting calls for urgent government intervention.

According to detainees who spoke to media, they are facing inhumane conditions and harsh treatment while in custody. Some alleged that bribes are being demanded in exchange for deportation, adding to their distress. The migrants have appealed to the Pakistani government to ensure their safe return home.

Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi confirmed that the Pakistani embassy has formally requested consular access to the detained individuals and is making efforts to facilitate their repatriation.

He stated that Cambodian authorities have shown goodwill and assured that the پاکستانی شہریوں کو بغیر any legal proceedings واپس بھیجنے پر غور کیا جا رہا ہے.

Meanwhile, Agha Rafiullah, Chairman of the National Assembly’s Parliamentary Committee on Overseas Pakistanis, expressed concern over the situation and called for the safe and immediate return of all affected nationals.
