Hajj Season to Shift to Spring for Next Eight Years, Return to Summer After 25 Years: Meteorological Report

Islamabad: Saudi Arabia’s National Center for Meteorology has stated that starting from Hajj 2026, a significant seasonal shift will begin, with the pilgrimage season moving into spring for the next eight years.
According to the report, the Hajj season will gradually transition from spring to winter and autumn over the coming decades, before returning to summer after approximately 25 years.
The statement explained that this natural shift occurs due to the Islamic lunar calendar, where Hajj dates advance by about 11 days each year. As a result, the pilgrimage rotates through different seasons over time.
Experts noted that under this cycle, pilgrims will benefit in the coming years from comparatively cooler and more comfortable weather conditions while performing the Hajj rituals, making the experience easier and more manageable.
The report further emphasized that this is a natural astronomical phenomenon linked to the lunar calendar’s progression, which continuously shifts the timing of Hajj across all seasons.
