Gwadar–Gabd Pak-Iran Route Granted International Transit Corridor Status in Major Boost for Balochistan

Turbat / Gwadar (Daily Qudrat): In a significant development for Balochistan, the Government of Pakistan has officially granted international transit transport corridor status to the Gwadar–Gabd Pak-Iran route, marking a major step toward enhancing regional connectivity and trade.
The decision is expected to increase the strategic and commercial importance of the region, while opening new avenues for land-based trade between Pakistan and Iran. It is also seen as a key move toward linking Gwadar with Central Asian markets.
According to Chamber of Commerce spokesperson Sajid Bin Rahim, the achievement is the result of sustained efforts by Chamber President Jiyand Hot and Gwadar Port Chairman Noor-ul-Haq, who actively engaged with federal authorities and advocated for the business community.
Officials say the new status will help reduce informal trade, improve legal trade channels, and create thousands of employment opportunities for local youth in Balochistan.
Business leaders have welcomed the move, describing it as a “historic milestone” that could transform Gwadar into a major regional trade hub and strengthen Pakistan’s economic ties with neighboring countries.
