Punjab Abolishes Traditional ‘Fard-e-Bay’, Introduces Digital Property Verification System

Lahore (Qudrat Daily): The Government of Punjab has abolished the traditional “Fard-e-Bay” system for property transactions and linked land records to a fully digital and registered system to simplify the buying and selling of property.
Under the new system, the process has been integrated with a digital verification mechanism through the Punjab Land Records system and mobile applications, eliminating the need for repeated visits to revenue offices. The initial fee for the service has been set at Rs900.
Officials said that the new mechanism will allow citizens to verify and transfer property through the Punjab Zameen App or online land record portals, ensuring transparency and reducing the risk of fraud and forgery in property dealings.
The reform is aimed at modernizing land record management and making real estate transactions more efficient, secure, and accessible for the public.
