Tahir Ashrafi Alleges Harassment in London Incident, Issues Detailed Response

London (Qudrat Daily): Chairman of Pakistan Ulema Council Tahir Ashrafi has issued a detailed statement following an alleged harassment incident in London involving him and his family.
In a video message, Ashrafi said he was travelling with his family on an invitation from a friend when, according to him, individuals associated with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and others stopped them and behaved inappropriately. He alleged that slogans were raised against the Pakistan Armed Forces during the incident.
He stated that he told the individuals that, in his view, the military leadership is currently being respected globally. Ashrafi questioned whether such behaviour would be acceptable if it involved their own family members.
He further clarified that he did not approach former Prime Minister Imran Khan for any special role, stating that he was invited by others and that he has never received personal or financial benefit from any political position.
Ashrafi claimed that the individuals involved attempted to harass him and repeatedly questioned his stance on the armed forces. He said that members of PTI were also present at the scene and should reflect on the situation.
He added that while his party’s position on political matters, including Imran Khan’s imprisonment and related issues, remains clear, such actions against individuals are unacceptable. He also warned that the situation could have escalated and called the behaviour “unacceptable and unlawful.”
Ashrafi further stated that he has previously worked to improve relations in the Muslim world and insisted that his efforts were for national and religious purposes, not personal gain.
