US Senate Rejects Resolution to Block Bulldozer Supply to Israel

WASHINGTON: The US Senate has rejected a resolution seeking to halt the supply of military bulldozers to Israel, in a vote that highlighted divisions among lawmakers over Washington’s support for its ally.

The measure, led by Senator Bernie Sanders, aimed to challenge unconditional US backing of Israel. A total of 40 Democratic senators voted in favor of blocking the bulldozer transfers, while 59 senators opposed the resolution, effectively defeating it.

The proposal sought to stop the provision of US bulldozers to the Israeli military, amid growing concerns among some lawmakers regarding their use in conflict zones.

In a related move, Senator Sanders also introduced another bill calling for a halt to the transfer of heavy bombs to Israel. During a separate vote in the Senate, 36 senators supported the resolution to block the supply of 1,000-pound bombs.

Despite gaining some backing, both efforts fell short of the required support, underscoring continued bipartisan divisions over US military assistance to Israel.
