Akshay Kumar Reveals Near-Death Experience During Childhood Pilgrimage to Vaishno Devi

Mumbai: Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has shared a shocking childhood incident, revealing that he once came very close to death during a pilgrimage to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine.
In a recent interview, the actor said that he was born after his parents prayed for a child at the shrine. He added that a year after his birth, his family visited the holy site to offer thanks, but during the journey his condition suddenly worsened.
Akshay Kumar recalled that he developed a high fever that reached 103 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit and eventually lost consciousness. Doctors at the time advised his parents to take him to Delhi for better medical care, as adequate facilities were not available in the region in 1969.
Despite the critical situation, his mother reportedly refused to turn back, expressing strong faith that if the goddess had given her a child, she could also take him back, but she would not abandon the pilgrimage.
The actor said his parents carried him to the temple, where they bathed him, prayed, and performed rituals while emotional. He further shared that during this moment, a stranger remarked about his smile, and to everyone’s surprise, he regained consciousness and his fever subsided.
Akshay Kumar described the experience as deeply spiritual and life-changing.
On the work front, he is currently preparing for his upcoming film Bhoot Bangla, which is scheduled for theatrical release on April 17, 2026.
