Punjab CM Announces Free Bardana Worth Rs 6 Billion for Wheat Farmers

Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced free provision of bardana (gunny bags) worth Rs 6 billion for wheat farmers across the province.
According to a private TV channel report, the Chief Minister directed that wheat be procured from farmers at Rs 3,500 per maund. She further instructed that priority will be given to farmers registered under the Kisan Card scheme for wheat procurement.
The provincial government has also established strategic committees at both provincial and divisional levels to monitor the wheat procurement process and ensure transparency and efficiency.
The Chief Minister announced the launch of the “Work with Punjab Government” program, under which internship opportunities will be provided to agriculture graduates and other qualified youth.
She directed that farmer registration under the Kisan Card program should continue without interruption, emphasizing that agricultural development is being placed on a sustainable foundation.
Maryam Nawaz stated that her government has achieved recognition for initiating what she described as a “real agricultural revolution” within two years, aiming to modernize and strengthen the agriculture sector in Punjab.
