Balochistan People Deprived of Basic Rights, Says Jamaat-e-Islami Leader Hidayat ur Rehman

Quetta: Provincial chief of Jamaat-e-Islami in Balochistan and Member of Provincial Assembly Hidayat ur Rehman Baloch has strongly criticized the ruling authorities, stating that the people of Balochistan have been deprived of their fundamental right to live.

Speaking to journalists, he said that rulers must abandon their lavish lifestyles and focus on providing relief to the public. He remarked that while Pakistan’s role in mediating tensions between Iran, the United States, and Israel is commendable, the federal government should play a similar role in resolving issues in Balochistan, ensuring rights, peace, and justice for its people.

He alleged that the lifestyle of the ruling elite resembles that of Mughal emperors, while corruption and plunder are at their peak. He added that inflation and unemployment have taken a severe toll on the province, while law and order remains fragile, job opportunities scarce, and border trade controlled by select groups.

Hidayat ur Rehman Baloch further claimed that the people of Balochistan have effectively been stripped of their right to live with dignity, and elected assembly members hold little real power. He also alleged that individuals lacking public mandate have been imposed through controversial electoral processes.

He said that despite being rich in natural resources, Balochistan’s people are trapped in a cycle of hardships, uncertainty, and deprivation. He accused powerful circles in Islamabad of having the authority to resolve these issues but showing little interest, resulting in increasing injustice, corruption, and oppression.

The Jamaat-e-Islami leader vowed that the party would not remain silent and would continue to raise its voice against ظلم and injustices through constitutional, democratic, and parliamentary means across all forums.
