Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai Announces Unconditional Support for Government in National Assembly

Islamabad — Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai on Thursday expressed full support for the government during a session of the National Assembly, calling on all political forces to unite in light of current national and global challenges.

Speaking on the floor of the house, Achakzai described the recent development as a “historic success,” stating that “only a mad person would not feel happy about it.” He emphasized that despite deep political differences, his party stands with Pakistan and is ready to extend unconditional cooperation to the government.

He urged senior political leaders to sit together for consultation, stressing the importance of unity during critical times. “No matter how serious our disagreements are, we must stand with the state in these circumstances,” he said, adding slogans in support of Pakistan and its armed forces.

Commenting on global affairs, Achakzai referred to former U.S. President Donald Trump, saying that ego-driven policies have complicated international dynamics. He also mentioned Iran, noting that expectations of its surrender had not materialized.

On domestic politics, Achakzai called for dialogue with Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). He said he plans to meet Khan in jail and persuade him toward reconciliation, describing him as one of the most popular leaders in the country’s political history. He also termed Khan’s imprisonment unjust.

Additionally, Achakzai advised Defense Minister Khawaja Asif to exercise caution in his choice of words.

Concluding his speech, the opposition leader highlighted the opportunities available to Pakistan, urging that the moment should not be wasted and that all stakeholders should work together for the country’s stability and progress.
