Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi Calls Field Marshal Asim Munir to Praise Pakistan’s Role in Regional Peace

Rawalpindi: Field Marshal Asim Munir received a telephone call from Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, during which Araghchi lauded Pakistan’s efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.

According to the Iranian embassy, Araghchi appreciated Pakistan’s continuous and effective role in facilitating the ceasefire and reducing tensions between Iran and the United States.

The development follows Pakistan’s diplomatic interventions, led by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, which persuaded U.S. President Donald Trump to extend the deadline for a major attack on Iran by two weeks. Accepting Pakistan’s proposal, Iran agreed to a temporary ceasefire.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Mujtaba Khamenei subsequently ordered all military units to halt operations, clarifying that this is a temporary pause rather than a formal end to hostilities. Official statements emphasized that all branches of Iran’s military should immediately observe the ceasefire while remaining fully alert.
