Severe Rain and Snowstorm Hits Ziarat and Barkhan, Causing Massive Damage to Orchards and Homes

Quetta: Heavy rain, hailstorms, and snowfall that began yesterday in various districts of Balochistan, including Ziarat, Barkhan, and Sanjawi, have caused extensive damage. In Ziarat and surrounding areas, overnight hail and up to three inches of snowfall severely affected apple and cherry orchards, leaving local farmers facing significant financial losses.
Similarly, in Barkhan and Rakni, heavy rain and strong winds damaged several roofs and walls of residential houses. At Kodi Zakrani, a flood surge washed away solar panels worth millions of rupees, disrupting both agriculture and electricity supply. In Sanjawi, overnight rains caused rivers and streams to overflow, with water from hill torrents entering local dams.
While the rainfall has raised hopes of increasing groundwater levels and brought some relief to farmers, several key roads remain submerged, disrupting transportation. Authorities have issued alerts in all affected areas and advised residents to avoid streams and low-lying areas. Power outages have also added to the hardships faced by the local population.
