NDMA Issues Nationwide Alert for Rain, Thunderstorms, and Snowfall

Islamabad: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a nationwide alert for heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and snowfall across several regions of Pakistan over the next 12 to 24 hours.
According to the NDMA, western weather systems are expected to bring strong winds, dust storms, and localized hail along with rain. Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, and northern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa may also experience snowfall.
Rain and thunderstorms are forecast in various areas of Punjab, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with some locations expecting hail. Cities across Punjab, including Islamabad, are predicted to experience strong winds along with rainfall.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, districts including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kalam, Kohat, Karak, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, and Waziristan are expected to see rain and wind. In Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, areas such as Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Astore, Diamer, Ghizer, Muzaffarabad, Bagh, Rawalakot, Haveli, and Neelum Valley may face rain and snowfall.
Balochistan cities including Quetta, Zhob, Ziarat, Qalat, Qila Saifullah, Qila Abdullah, Pishin, Barkhan, Sibi, Dera Bugti, Khuzdar, Awaran, Washuk, Panjgur, Turbat, Gwadar, and Lasbela are also expected to receive rainfall.
The NDMA warned that strong winds, lightning, and hail could damage weak structures, trees, and power lines. Slippery roads may disrupt traffic flow, while landslides and road blockages are possible in hilly regions due to rain and snowfall.
Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel, exercise caution, and stay updated via the “Pak NDMA Disaster Alert” app. All relevant authorities have been instructed to remain alert and prepared for the developing weather conditions.
