Mahmood Khan Achakzai Warns of Serious Consequences Over Constitutional Violations

Quetta: Chairman of Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party and senior politician Mahmood Khan Achakzai has warned that violations of the Constitution and alleged manipulation of public mandate are pushing the country towards instability.

Addressing a public gathering at Sardar Mustafa Khan Football Ground in Pishin on the third day of Eid, Achakzai urged state institutions to operate within constitutional limits. He stated that Pakistan was founded on the principles outlined in the Lahore Resolution, which guaranteed equality, autonomy, and justice for all federating units.

He criticized the current political situation, claiming that the Constitution is no longer being upheld in its true spirit and that the sanctity of the public vote has been undermined. He emphasized that Pakistan belongs to its 250 million citizens and not to any single institution or individual.

Achakzai called for an end to alleged interference of the establishment in politics, stating that without adherence to constitutional boundaries, the country cannot overcome its ongoing economic and political crises.

He also criticized what he termed a “Form 47-imposed government” and demanded the immediate release of political prisoners, including Imran Khan. He further called for lifting restrictions on media and holding free, fair, and transparent elections to ensure genuine public representation.

Highlighting concerns of marginalized communities, he said that Pashtuns, Baloch, and other groups seek equality and dignity within the state. He warned that any attempts to control local resources or erase cultural and historical identities would lead to serious consequences.

Commenting on regional dynamics, Achakzai expressed concern over tensions with Afghanistan, alleging that ongoing hostilities and aerial actions are part of a broader strategy affecting Pashtun populations. He urged the state to abandon its “frontline state” policy and pursue peaceful, respectful relations with neighboring countries.

He concluded by calling on supporters to organize for the supremacy of the Constitution and protection of public rights, stating that the time has come to end suppression through force. The gathering echoed with slogans in favor of constitutional supremacy and support for Achakzai.
