Unmanned US-Made Military Vessel Destroyed Off Turkey’s Coast, Security Alert Issued

Ankara: Turkish authorities destroyed a US-made unmanned military surface vessel after it washed ashore along the Black Sea coast, triggering a major security alert.

According to official statements, the vessel—identified as an AEGIR-W unmanned combat boat—was discovered on Friday near the ساحلی علاقے Ünye in Ordu province. Local residents spotted the suspicious craft and immediately informed security agencies, prompting a swift response from law enforcement and military units.

Security forces, including the gendarmerie, cordoned off the area while naval experts and a სპეციალიზებული S.A.S command unit from Istanbul conducted a detailed inspection. Authorities confirmed that the vessel was fully operational and loaded with explosives and weaponry, making immediate action necessary.

The boat was safely towed approximately four kilometers offshore into the Black Sea, where it was destroyed through a controlled explosion. Nearby السكان were temporarily evacuated as a precautionary measure during the operation.

Sources revealed that the AEGIR-W is an advanced unmanned surface vehicle developed by the US defense company Sierra Nevada Corporation. It is capable of autonomous or remote-controlled operations, has a range of up to 900 kilometers, a speed exceeding 25 knots, and can carry up to 300 kilograms of payload.

Officials stated that it remains unclear how the vessel reached Turkish waters. Some reports suggest it may have been used in experiments related to the Ukraine conflict, though this has not been officially confirmed.

Turkish authorities have launched a full investigation into the incident, while security forces across the region remain on high alert to counter any potential threats.
