16-Year-Old Girl Goes Missing, Found Married to 25-Year-Old Man in Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi: Police in Rawalpindi have registered a case after the shocking revelation that a 16-year-old girl, who mysteriously went missing from her home, was allegedly married to a 25-year-old man. The case was filed under the Child Marriage Act and provisions related to aiding a crime, following a complaint by the girl’s mother.
According to police, Masmata Shamim Akhtar reported that her daughter went missing on February 21, 2026, along with cash, a gold chain, and a mobile phone. She later learned through a phone call from Masmata Abida Bibi that her daughter had been coerced into marriage by Zahid Safir.
Police said the accused and their associates, including relatives, have been making threatening calls from various numbers, warning that they would harm the girl and other children if a police report was filed.
Authorities have initiated an investigation under the Child Marriage Act and aiding a crime provisions, and efforts are ongoing to ensure the girl’s safety and bring the accused to justice.
