Fire Contained in Tariq Road Shopping Center Basement; Two Firefighters Hospitalized

A fire that broke out in the basement of a shopping center on Tariq Road in Karachi was successfully brought under control after a late-night operation by fire brigade teams.

According to fire officials, the blaze erupted in a clothing market located on Tariq Road. During the firefighting operation, two firefighters were overcome by heavy smoke and lost consciousness. They were immediately shifted to Jinnah Hospital for medical treatment.

Initial reports indicate that the fire affected two to three shops in the basement, all of which were dealing in garments. Chief Fire Officer Humayun stated that timely response and coordinated efforts helped prevent the fire from spreading further within the market.

Following the incident, the market association praised the bravery and swift action of the fire brigade personnel. A reward of PKR 1 million was announced for the team, while the two affected firefighters, identified as Sikandar and Bilal, were each awarded PKR 200,000.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and investigations are ongoing.
