Federal, Balochistan Leadership Decide to Deploy Frontier Constabulary for Law and Order

Quetta: A high-level meeting on law and order was held under the chairmanship of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, where key decisions were taken to strengthen security and stability in Balochistan.

Senior officials from federal and provincial institutions attended the meeting, during which detailed briefings were given on security issues, the repatriation of Afghan refugees, hawala and hundi operations, extortion, and anti-smuggling measures.

Officials including the chairman of National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), the director general of the Federal Investigation Agency, the DG of NCCIA, and the IG of the Frontier Constabulary also briefed the participants on their respective areas.

During the meeting, it was decided to utilize the services of the Frontier Constabulary to help maintain peace and stability in Balochistan. In the first phase, around 3,000 personnel comprising two wings of the Frontier Constabulary will be deployed in the province.

Participants also decided to further strengthen the role of the Federal Investigation Agency in the province, with instructions to fill vacant posts by recruiting local residents.

Both the federal and provincial governments agreed to enhance monitoring of anti-state activities on social media and accelerate action against individuals involved in spreading propaganda against the state.

Speaking at the meeting, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi assured that the federal government would provide full support to the Balochistan government in maintaining peace and stability. He also pledged assistance in improving the professional capacity of the Balochistan police.

Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti said the government is confronting terrorism with full determination and strength. He stressed that the fight against terrorism is not only the responsibility of security forces but a collective effort of the entire nation.

Bugti added that the government had made it clear from the beginning that the writ of the state would be ensured at all costs and noted that today no highway in the province is blocked in the name of protest. Both leaders expressed confidence that terrorism can be defeated through national unity.
