MQM Worker Mahmood Sanata Seeks Acquittal in Anti-Terrorism Court

Karachi: An MQM worker, Mahmood Sanata, has filed a petition for acquittal in a special anti-terrorism court in Karachi in a case involving murder, attempted murder, and terrorism.
Sanata’s lawyer, Latif Pasha, argued in court that the accused, including Mahmood Sanata and Rais Mamma, were allegedly involved in a shooting over a plot dispute. The incident resulted in the death of Zar Khan and injuries to three others.
According to Pasha, Mahmood was initially arrested on firearms charges, and after being acquitted in that case, he was arrested in a separate case. He claimed that Mahmood was implicated in the case to target MQM leader Rais Mamma.
The defense further stated that the accused’s real name is Muhammad Mahmood, whereas the police arrested him under the name Mahmood Sanata, recorded in police files as Mahmood alias Rana. The lawyer requested the court to acquit Mahmood, stating he has no connection to the case.
Police reported that the case was registered at Korangi Industrial Area Police Station, and Mahmood Sanata was arrested based on Rais Mamma’s identification.
