Government Maintains Petroleum Levy on Petrol, Diesel; Kerosene Price Increased

Islamabad:The **Government of Pakistan** has decided to maintain the **Petroleum Levy** on **Petrol** and **Diesel**, according to a notification issued by the **Ministry of Energy Pakistan**.

Under the decision, the levy will remain **Rs105.37 per litre on petrol** and **Rs55.24 per litre on diesel**. Officials said the government will keep petrol and diesel prices unchanged and provide a **subsidy of Rs23 billion** for the period from **March 14 to March 20**.

The ministry stated that the subsidy will be paid to oil marketing companies under **Price Differential Claims (PDCs)**. Under the arrangement, the government will provide **Rs49.63 per litre subsidy on petrol** and **Rs75.05 per litre on diesel**.

According to officials, the **Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority** will process and pay the **Rs23 billion** in price differential claims.

The federal cabinet has also approved the establishment of the **Prime Minister’s Austerity Fund**, while the **Economic Coordination Committee** has authorized the transfer of **Rs27.10 billion** to the fund, including **Rs23 billion** for the subsidy payments.

Meanwhile, the price of **Kerosene Oil** has been increased by **Rs39.20 per litre**. According to a notification issued by **Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority**, the new price has been set at **Rs358.01 per litre**, compared to the previous price of **Rs318.81 per litre**.
