Mahmood Khan Achakzai Delivers Fiery Speech in National Assembly, Criticizes Government, Judiciary, and Media

Islamabad (Daily Qudrat) – Leader of the Opposition, Chairman of the Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Aain Pakistan, and Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PMAP), Mahmood Khan Achakzai, delivered a scathing address in the National Assembly, condemning the government for undermining democratic institutions.

Speaking in the assembly, Achakzai accused the government of sidelining parliament, taking control over the judiciary, and subjugating the media through political influence. He questioned the government’s handling of regional and international issues, including Israel’s aggression against Iran, noting that the assembly had not passed any resolution condemning these actions. He said, “It is unclear what you are doing with this parliament. You have made deals with Saudi Arabia and conducted tours after Gaddafi, yet this parliament has no knowledge of them. This cannot continue.”

Achakzai criticized the government’s inaction on pressing domestic issues, including inflation, energy shortages, and regional instability, and warned that the current administration does not represent the people of Pakistan. He announced plans for the opposition to convene a separate meeting of genuinely elected members of the National Assembly and Senate, accompanied by the press, to issue a unified resolution highlighting that the current government does not represent the Pakistani public.

He further called for a national movement involving all political parties to address the country’s crises and restore the authority and dignity of parliament. Achakzai emphasized the need for freedom of expression within the assembly, stating that preventing members from speaking on matters like fuel prices and public grievances undermines the very purpose of parliamentary democracy.

Concluding his address, he appealed for collective efforts to strengthen parliament as a true representative body for Pakistan’s 25 crore citizens, calling for immediate action to protect democratic norms, media freedom, and public accountability.
