Maryam Nawaz Suspends Official Fuel for Ministers Amid Petroleum Crisis

Maryam Nawaz, Chief Minister of Punjab, Pakistan, has announced strict austerity measures to address the ongoing petroleum crisis and economic challenges caused by regional tensions.

Under the new measures, official fuel for provincial ministers has been completely suspended until the petroleum crisis ends. In addition, the fuel allowance for government officers’ vehicles has been reduced by 50 percent with immediate effect.

The chief minister also imposed a ban on protocol vehicles accompanying ministers and senior government officials. For essential security reasons, only one vehicle will be allowed with ministers and top officials.

Furthermore, the provincial government has decided to implement a work-from-home policy in government offices, with only essential staff required to attend physically.

Maryam Nawaz also announced that schools, colleges, and universities across Punjab will remain closed from March 10 to March 31, although examinations will continue according to schedule. Educational institutions have been directed to conduct online classes during the closure period.
