US Submarine Attacks Iranian Ship in Indian Ocean, Over 100 Reported Missing

**Tehran (Qudrat Daily):** According to international news agencies, a US submarine targeted an Iranian vessel in the Indian Ocean, resulting in over 100 people reported missing.
The Iranian ship had been returning from participation in the International Fleet Review 2026 in India and was near the coasts of India and Sri Lanka at the time of the attack. Reports indicate that at least 100 individuals are missing and presumed dead, while the injured are receiving medical assistance. The Sri Lankan Navy has reportedly conducted rescue operations to secure the vessel.
The incident is expected to escalate diplomatic and military tensions in the region, with official reactions from the involved countries still awaited.
The Iranian Navy’s Modj-class frigate had previously participated in the International Fleet Review 2026 and Exercise Milan 2026. These exercises also included the US Navy’s Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer and Russia’s Admiral Shaposhnikov-class frigate.
Naval experts note that the International Fleet Review and Exercise Milan are seen as significant steps in maritime diplomacy and multilateral naval cooperation, highlighting the strategic importance of such gatherings in the Indian Ocean region.
