Sindh Government and MobiLink Launch Major Initiative to Support Small Businesses

Karachi: The Sindh Enterprise Development Fund, a subsidiary of the Sindh government, has announced a partnership with MobiLink Bank to provide affordable, low-interest loans to micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) across the province.
Under the five-year agreement, MobiLink Bank will disburse loans to business owners, while the Sindh Enterprise Development Fund will subsidize a portion of the interest, making financing more accessible and cost-effective for small entrepreneurs.
The initiative aims to promote business activity in Sindh, with a particular focus on agriculture, livestock, fisheries, renewable energy, women-led enterprises, and IT sector businesses. The program plans to provide approximately PKR 1 billion in loans, with individual loans of up to PKR 5 million available on short-, medium-, and long-term repayment schedules.
Interest subsidies will be provided for three years, with the option for extension if needed. Officials expect the program to stabilize small businesses and create new employment opportunities.
Senior executives at MobiLink Bank highlighted that small and medium enterprises are the backbone of the national economy but often face challenges accessing finance. This partnership is designed to alleviate such barriers.
Government officials added that the initiative will strengthen public-private cooperation and accelerate industrial and commercial activity throughout the province.
