Priyanka Chopra Says She Turned to Hollywood After Feeling Sidelined in Bollywood

Mumbai: Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra has revealed that there was a time when she was receiving very limited work in the Hindi film industry and felt compelled to move to Hollywood to preserve her identity and career.
Speaking on a recent podcast with an Indian influencer, Priyanka said that working in the film industry is not easy, describing it as a system driven by politics and relationships where success is often temporary. She shared that before transitioning from Bollywood to Hollywood, she felt her opportunities were shrinking and she wanted to choose a new path to protect herself mentally, emotionally, and physically.
Priyanka entered Hollywood through her music career in 2012 and 2013, and achieved major success in 2015 with the American television series Quantico. During the podcast, she said her two-year stint as a pop artist felt like a breath of fresh air, as she worked in studios with international artists such as Pitbull and The Chainsmokers.
She added that while she felt restricted and directionless in Hindi cinema at the time, music opened new doors and gave her renewed confidence.

Priyanka Chopra’s latest film, The Bluff, has recently been released on Prime Video. In the film, she plays a former pirate who goes to extreme lengths to protect her daughter, showcasing a powerful action-packed performance.
