Balochistan Govt to Prioritize Funding and Technical Resources for Safe City Projects: CM Sarfraz Bugti

Quetta: The Government of Balochistan has made a principled decision to establish a modern Safe City Authority aligned with contemporary security requirements. The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Tuesday, where progress on Safe City projects was reviewed in detail.
Officials briefed the meeting that the project includes the phased installation of state-of-the-art surveillance cameras in major cities, establishment of an integrated command and control center, digital monitoring systems, and technology-based surveillance mechanisms.
The initiative aims to ensure 24/7 effective monitoring of main highways, sensitive installations, key public and private buildings, and other important public places.
Chief Minister Bugti directed authorities to immediately remove all administrative, technical, and financial hurdles and to accelerate the pace of work. He emphasized that the provincial government would provide the required financial and technical resources on a priority basis to ensure timely completion of the project.
He stated that after Punjab, Balochistan would become the second province to introduce a modern Safe City system, calling it a milestone for maintaining law and order, preventing crime, and improving civic facilities.
The chief minister added that completion of the Safe City projects would help reduce crime rates, improve traffic management, enhance emergency response, and strengthen coordination among law enforcement agencies. He reiterated that the effective use of modern technology to safeguard citizens’ lives and property remains the government’s top priority.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan, Additional Chief Secretary Home Hamza Shafqat, Inspector General of Police Balochistan Mohammad Tahir Khan, Principal Secretary Imran Zarkoon, and other senior officials.
