Designer Nita Reveals Five Guards Secured Aishwarya Rai’s 400kg Jewelry on ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ Set

Renowned designer Nita has revealed that actress Aishwarya Rai’s 400-kilogram jewelry on the set of the 2008 film Jodhaa Akbar was protected by five dedicated security guards.
According to Indian media reports, Nita shared several astonishing and interesting anecdotes from the film’s shoot. The movie, directed by 62-year-old Ashutosh Gowariker, featured Hrithik Roshan in a lead role alongside Aishwarya Rai.
The designer revealed that the film’s costumes were created on an extraordinary scale, with nearly 400 kilograms of jewelry crafted over more than 600 days. She added that the jewelry made for Aishwarya Rai’s character was extremely valuable, which is why five security guards were stationed on set to maintain a complete record of each piece.
Nita also recounted an incident during filming when a small pearl from the jewelry fell on set, causing a brief panic as everyone feared a valuable piece was lost. It was later discovered to be just a single pearl, bringing relief to the crew.
A four-time National Award winner, Nita is considered one of the most prominent costume designers in Indian cinema.
