Islamabad: The **Government of Pakistan** has officially launched the Prime Minister’s Electric Bike and Rickshaw Scheme 2026 to promote affordable, clean, and fuel-efficient transportation across the country.

The initiative has been introduced under the **New Energy Vehicle Policy 2026-30**, aiming to make daily transportation environmentally friendly while reducing fuel expenses for citizens.

### Objective of the Scheme

The national program seeks to expand access to electric motorcycles, electric rickshaws, and electric three-wheelers through government subsidies. The primary goals are to reduce reliance on petrol and diesel, cut urban pollution, and promote sustainable mobility.

The scheme will remain operational from 2026 to 2027 and will be available nationwide. Beneficiaries will be selected through a computerized balloting (lucky draw) system to ensure transparency and equal opportunity.

### Subsidy Details and Vehicle Categories

Under the scheme, the following subsidies will be offered:

* **Electric Motorcycles**: 40,000 units with a subsidy of Rs80,000. No driving license required (CNIC mandatory). Suitable for students, women, and delivery riders.
* **Electric Rickshaws**: 1,000 units with a subsidy of Rs290,000. Valid driving license required. Suitable for drivers and daily wage earners.
* **Electric Three-Wheelers**: 1,000 units with a subsidy of Rs880,000. Valid driving license required. Suitable for shopkeepers and small transporters.

The subsidy will significantly reduce the upfront cost of purchasing electric vehicles, allowing buyers to pay manageable down payments and easy installments.

### Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

* Must be a Pakistani citizen with a valid CNIC.
* Minimum age of 18 years.
* A valid driving license is mandatory for electric rickshaws and three-wheelers.
* No general license required for electric motorcycles, provided the applicant holds a valid CNIC.

Applications will only be accepted through the official government online portal: pave.gov.pk. After submission, successful applicants will be selected through computerized balloting and notified via SMS or portal updates.
