Google Introduces New AI-Enhanced Features in Chrome Browser

As artificial intelligence (AI) technology continues to evolve rapidly, its integration into web browsers is also accelerating. In line with this trend, Google has introduced several new features to its Google Chrome browser to enhance user productivity and multitasking.

According to a statement issued by Google, three new features are being rolled out in Chrome: Split View, PDF Annotations, and Save to Google Drive.

Although these features are not directly AI-focused, Google has already integrated its Google Gemini AI assistant into Chrome. The move comes as companies like OpenAI and Perplexity AI introduce agentic browsers, prompting Google to enhance Chrome with more advanced capabilities.

### Split View for Easier Multitasking

The Split View feature is designed to make multitasking more convenient. Users can open two webpages within a single tab, allowing them to watch a video on one side while working on another page simultaneously.

To use this feature, users can drag a tab to the left or right side of the browser window or right-click on a link and select the “Open link in split view” option. The tab will automatically divide into two sections.

### PDF Annotations Without Downloading Files

The second feature, PDF Annotations, enables users to add notes or highlight text directly within a PDF file in Chrome. This eliminates the need to download the file to make edits, streamlining document review and editing.

### Save Directly to Google Drive

The third feature, Save to Google Drive, allows users to save PDF files directly to their Google Drive account instead of downloading them to their computer. Saved files will appear in a dedicated “Saved from Chrome” folder in Drive, making them easier to locate later.

With these updates, Google aims to strengthen Chrome’s position in the competitive browser market by improving productivity tools and integrating AI-driven enhancements.
