Veteran Actress Abida Beg Appeals to Punjab CM for Help
Lahore: Senior Pakistani actress Abida Beg has made a heartfelt appeal to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for assistance, citing personal and financial hardships. A viral social media clip shows Beg in tears requesting help from the Chief Minister.
Known for her iconic role as Chandi in the classic drama Sona Chandi, Beg described her current plight, saying that despite dedicating 35 years to the arts and her late husband Mirza Rasheed Akhtar contributing 40 years to the industry, she is now facing severe difficulties. She stated that her house has been taken from her, leaving her with two children and grandchildren without adequate means to afford rented accommodation.
Beg urged the Chief Minister and Federal Minister for Information Azma Bukhari to hear her appeal and grant her a meeting, emphasizing that her only asset was her home. She appealed emotionally, saying that women are the Chief Minister’s “red line” and requested her support as a long-serving artist of Pakistan.
