Pakistan Foils Drug Smuggling Attempt from Afghanistan: 1.2 Tons of Hashish Seized, 2 Arrested

Gwadar: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has seized 1.2 tons of high-quality hashish and arrested two suspects in a major operation targeting an international drug smuggling network.

According to ANF officials, the operation was based on intelligence reports indicating that a group, led by drug smuggler Ishaq Baloch, was transporting a large consignment of narcotics from Panjgur to Turbat, intending to smuggle it abroad via coastal routes.

The ANF intercepted a suspicious truck on the Panjgur–Turbat National Highway (M-8). During the search, 1,200 kilograms of hashish were recovered from hidden compartments, and two suspects in the truck were arrested on the spot.

Officials estimate the global market value of the seized drugs at approximately $66.15 million. Preliminary investigations revealed that the narcotics were smuggled from Afghanistan into Pakistan and were to be shipped to Gulf countries, Yemen, and Tanzania via high-speed fishing boats from the coastal areas of Gwadar and Pasni.

Cases have been registered against the arrested suspects under the Anti-Narcotics Act, while raids are ongoing to apprehend the network’s ringleader, Ishaq Baloch, and other members.
